Blanche C. Brookhiser, 100, of Fort Madison, died at 5:12 a.m. Monday, April 12, 1999 at Fort Madison Health Center.
Born Dec 20 1898, at Rome, she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Alma Beaber Milleman. She married William Henry Brookhiser March 12, 1919 at Burlington. He died Jan 18, 1981.
Mrs. Brookhiser was a homemaker. She was a resident of Wever area since 1942.
She was a charter member and the longest member of Spring Grove Methodist Church in Burlington, was active in the Spring Grove Ladies Aid Circle, loved growing flowers and was an avid card player.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Brookhiser of Wever and William Brookhiser of Lawerenceville, Ga; one daughter, Marian Johnson of West Burlington; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, one brother, three sisters, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thrusday in Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison.
The funeral for Mrs. Brookhiser will be at 10 a.m. Thrusday in Barr Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Karen Dungan officiating. The body has been cremated. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Spring Grove Methodist Church.
